One of my favorite light liqueurs is plum liqueur, known as umeshu in Japan! During my whisky tour at the Suntory Yamazaki Distillery, I couldn’t resist grabbing a bottle from their souvenir shop—and it did not disappoint. While I’ve tried the generic plum liqueur sold on the West Coast of the U.S., I still prefer the bold, satisfying flavors of Japanese umeshu.

The Suntory version is sweet, rich, and best enjoyed straight over an ice cube. If you’re in Japan and love sweet, fruity flavors, I highly recommend picking up a bottle!
