I have not had this incredibly cool bar experience in quite a while, especially not in San Jose. Recently, we decided to check out this fairly new bar that everyone has been talking about, and it absolutely did not disappoint us in the slightest. The Alter Ego Cocktail Club is in Downtown San Jose, inside a bar called Still O.G., which is a HiFi Vinyl Bar.

Alter ego cocktails in san jose called Annabel lee — Annabel Lee

The Annabel Lee cocktail was truly amazing. Some of the main ingredients it featured were brandy, aperitivo, chili, and tamarind, creating a beautiful balance of sweet, bold, and spicy flavors that was simply perfect for any cocktail enthusiast. Not to mention the stunning presentation! Although I couldn’t capture it on video, it was served with a bubble on top, and when it popped, it was smokey. Then you saw the image of a lady with a cigarette in her mouth and I found that super cool.

The Canyon Lullaby cocktail was also nothing short of amazing! Some of the main ingredients it contained were rye, passionfruit, and Calpico. It was a nice combination that was fruity and sweet, and it came in a cute cactus-shaped cup.

We also tried the Buster Babs, a fascinating clarified drink that contained a blend of rum, carrot, turbinado sugar, and a few other intriguing ingredients. It apparently takes them a few days of processing it to achieve this unique texture and flavor! The result was an incredibly smooth, silky, and sweet flavor profile. The presentation was also pretty.

I highly recommend this speakeasy bar! We are hoping to come back to do a dinner date here eventually since I have been hearing the food that is served here with the drinks are also amazing! Since this is a speakeasy bar, we plan to order cocktails that aren’t listed on the menu during our next visit. However, for our very first time here, it’s just fun to explore and see what the drinks featured on the menu are like.
